Décor: Purchase an assortment of birdhouses to be used as table centerpieces.  Many craft or garden stores have hand painted houses at a very reasonable price.  Use pink or blue table linens and lay a bed of cellulose in the table center.  Cellulose is a shredded packing material, usually found in brown or green colors, which will resemble a nest.   Place birdhouse in center of cellulose bed.  Purchase small wooden or plastic eggs from a craft store and place eggs around birdhouse.  If cellulose is unavailable substitute a bed of greenery and lemon leaves.

 Menu:

Cake Décor: Create an edible nest from crushed shredded wheat cereal and scatter over top of cake.  Place peanut M&M’s around nest as eggs.  Set ornamental birds purchased from a craft store in center of nest resting on a few eggs.

Games / Activities: The X-treme Egg Hunt! 1 team member wears a basket on her head as the team collects hidden eggs to be placed in the basket.  Purchase 5 medium size baskets without handles whose sides are about 3 inches high.  Cut slit through opposite sides of basket and feed a wide scarf or fabric through slits.  Hide plastic eggs around house or yard.  Have guests form 5 teams.  Place basket on outgoing team member’s head and tie scarf ends under chin to secure basket.  Basket person may not hold or touch the basket to keep collected eggs from falling out.  Set a 5-minute time limit and play music as teams hunt for eggs.  When an egg is found it must be placed in the basket. When time is up the team with the most eggs in the basket wins.

Music: Contemporary or legendary artists performing lullaby albums such as Beatles for Babies or Kenny Loggin’s “House on Pooh Corner”.

Party Favors: Chocolate lollipops shaped like birds, or cloth bags of birdseed.
